Gen. Ignatius Kutu Acheampong

General Ignatius Kutu Acheampong was a Ghanaian military ruler who served as Head of State of Ghana from 1972 to 1978. He led a military coup that overthrew the government of Prime Minister Kofi Abrefa Busia and instituted policies including Operation Feed Yourself and the UNIGOV system. He was later overthrown in a palace coup and executed in 1979 following the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council uprising.
