Ridge Hospital

Ridge Hospital, officially the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, is one of Ghana's premier tertiary healthcare institutions located in the prestigious Ridge area of Accra. Established in 1959, it serves as a major referral center for the Greater Accra Region, offering comprehensive medical services including surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and emergency care. The hospital handles complex cases referred from district and regional facilities across southern Ghana.

Ridge Hospital was commissioned in 1959 shortly after Ghana's independence as part of the nation's healthcare infrastructure expansion under President Kwame Nkrumah. Originally built to serve the growing capital city and surrounding regions, it was strategically located in Ridge, near government offices and diplomatic missions. Over six decades, the facility has undergone multiple expansions and modernization efforts to maintain its status as a leading public tertiary hospital in Ghana.
