Oti Regional Hospital is a public healthcare facility located in Dambai, the capital of Oti Region. It serves as the primary referral hospital for the region, providing general medical, surgical, maternal and child health services to residents across Oti Region and surrounding areas.
Oti Regional Hospital is the principal public healthcare facility in Dambai, the capital of Oti Region, one of Ghana's newest regions created in 2019. As the primary referral hospital for Oti Region, it provides essential medical services including general medicine, surgery, maternal and child health, and emergency care to the region's predominantly rural population. The hospital serves as the apex healthcare institution for communities across all eight districts of Oti Region.
The hospital was established to serve the Volta Region before Oti Region was carved out in 2019 as part of Ghana's regional reorganization that created six new regions. Following the creation of Oti Region, the facility was elevated to regional hospital status to anchor healthcare delivery in the new region. The hospital has since undergone gradual expansion to meet the healthcare needs of the region's approximately 600,000 residents spread across rural and peri-urban communities.
The hospital is located in Dambai town, accessible via the main roads connecting to Kete Krachi and Jasikan. Visitors can reach Dambai from Accra via Hohoe or through Kete Krachi from Yeji. As a public healthcare facility, the hospital operates 24/7 with outpatient services available during regular business hours and emergency services round the clock. Patients are advised to bring NHIS cards if enrolled for subsidized care.
Oti Regional Hospital serves one of Ghana's most geographically dispersed populations, with some patients traveling over 100 kilometers from remote communities in districts like Krachi Nchumuru and Nkwanta North, often crossing rivers and navigating challenging terrain to access specialized healthcare services unavailable in their local clinics.
