Boti Falls is one of Ghana's most beloved twin waterfalls β two cascading falls side by side at the foot of the Akuapem escarpment in the Eastern Region, about 17 km northeast of Koforidua, near the town of Boti in the Yilo Krobo District. The falls are fed by the Ponpon River, which drops roughly 30 metres over the rocks. The two streams are known locally as male and female: the taller, more powerful fall is the "male," and the gentler one beside it is the "female." In the rainy season the two merge into a single thundering curtain; in the dry season they separate into distinct twin falls β which is why the best time to visit is between June and August, when the volume is at its peak. Getting there is straightforward: from Accra it's about two to three hours by road via Koforidua, and the final stretch through the Krobo hills is part of the charm. The site is managed as a tourist attraction with an entrance fee, a guide who will walk you down the roughly 250 steps to the base, and a picnic area up top. The pool at the bottom is shallow enough for a cautious dip, though the rocks are slippery β take it slowly. The surrounding area rewards a longer stay. The Umbrella Rock, a naturally balanced rock formation with a spectacular view over the Somanya plains, is a short hike away, and the nearby Krobo bead market at Koforidua and the Boti community's traditional culture round out the trip. Local legend holds that the falls were discovered by a hunter, and the name Boti comes from the Krobo word for the area. A word of practical advice: go early in the day, wear shoes with grip for the steps, carry water, and confirm current opening hours and fees with the site or the Eastern Regional Tourism Authority before you travel, since these can change seasonally. As the Akan say, *"Se wo were fi na wosan kofa a, yenkyi"* β there is no shame in going back for what you left behind; and Boti, once seen, is a place people return to.
